Foundation
Autumn leaves rain from the trees on Walhalla; concepts on death, decay, and release pervade my mind. Days are battling between endings and beginnings, and I prepare myself for real change in communion with seasons. Discipline is needed most, now. Devotion must look much different than ever before. The margin of error narrows and with it, I refine my every move, mode, habit, process. For this next stage is it.
I now wake earlier, just before sunrise. Morning meditation is first, in which I’ve found myself wanting to stay longer and longer. Movement is next, nature a must. Wash up, make a meal and shake, create, hot yoga, bathe, draw, read, meditate, sleep, dream. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. There is no room for dopamine binge, no energy for the concerns of unknowing. My lover, a writer and composer, sits next to me as I draw, and reminds me that I am also a body, that touch is an experience, that what we make is born of it, that ideas can be more expansive than thoughts, how to appreciate equanimity, equality in relationship, and the value of irreplaceable depths that are most rare in love. I have never known a man so vast, poetic, and authentic as him. He is my everything behind closed doors, and at the end of each day.
Sobriety is the path now, the foundation for all invocation through art and expression. Old habits are always dying. New material introduces itself as they fall away. My vow of silence during art weeks begins on November 1st, and will be broken on October 1st, 2027. My clients are prepared and eager to participate, and I will ease into this process with new client relationships. My neighbors, friends, and family have known for months this is coming and most have offered their support and service. The challenges ahead are best prepared by every little thing I’m doing right now, and each matter equally. Voice recordings about my process are coming soon.
I am booked with tattoo work into late January 2027, and will quietly schedule as new projects inquire. There will not be announcements and I’ll post available designs on my website here as they are drawn.
