+Attachment

So much of my work over the past 5-6 years has been about love and relationships of all kinds. Having so many moves and dramatic life restarts under my belt, I’ve had cause to sift through my keepsakes trunk with a fine-toothed comb to decide what keeps its place, what is to be let go, and how that is to happen. In the pile of photos I have rediscovered many former loves, love letters, and sentimental trinkets. I found photos of my parents when they were in love before I was born. In my appraisal, the decision was made to release some of those memories, faces, sentiments, and alchemize them into my healing process through art. I know they’re in there, and in some case the entire piece is about our experience, but I have looked over them as material memory long enough when they really served as a part of the whole to a greater story to be told.
